SPORTS GRANT 2017-18
The sports grant for 2017-18 was spent in various ways to sustain the high quality of PE at Birch Primary School as follows:-
Staff Training - training through lesson observations and OAA training
Outside Teaching Professionals
Transport and entry to to competitions
Birch demonstrates high levels of participation in PE through quality lessons and varied clubs. We have shown a commitment to varied PE through our work on swimming, on-going staff training, as well as participation in a wide variety of Level 1 (in school) and Level 2 (out of school) events. Last year, this included, cross country, football, tag rugby, dodge-ball, cricket, athletics and orienteering. For the first time, children attended an cheerleading competition and we were able to send a team to compete at a Girls' Football Tournament. This year, Birch has entered 2 teams in level 3 competitions and 4 individuals have qualified for the cross-country finals. Children also enjoyed sports festivals and performing cheerleading routines at local events and Sports Day.
